Job summary

Ball Corporation in Kettering (ENG) is seeking a Shift Engineer to support the plant's production goals. You will perform manual and mechanical tasks, operate and maintain equipment, and help ensure safety and quality standards across the production area.

The role requires at least 2 years in manufacturing, an apprenticeship in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering, and strong English communication. You’ll work a 6-on/4-off pattern with 8.5-hour shifts; attractive bonuses and a pension are

Qualifications

• 2+ years in manufacturing required.
• Apprenticeship in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering discipline.
• Experience with preventative and planned maintenance preferred.
• Able to assist with breakdowns and line conversions.
• Strong communication, clear process explanations.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Complies with safety practices and corporate directives for safe work.
• Supports food safety system guidelines where applicable.
• Operates, adjusts, and repairs production and support equipment to meet specs.
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment as required.
• Replenishes supplies, materials, and parts for the area.
• Maintains required hand tools and equipment for area.
• Initiates and follows standard operating procedures and builds cross-department relationships.

Position overview:

As the Shift Engineer, you’re a key member of the Kettering Team. You will contribute to the success of Ball by performing tasks and proving services to support the plant's production goals and overall business plans.

The Shift pattern is:

• 6 days on (2 morning, 2 afternoon, 2 night shifts) -8.5 hours per shift.
• 4 days off

Your key responsibilities include:

• Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures a specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
• Supports and follows the guidelines of the food safety system.
• Performs various manual or mechanical production and support functions by operating, adjusting, and repairing the production and support equipment to meet customer specifications.
• Performs preventative maintenance on production and support equipment as required.
• Responsible for replenishing supplies, materials, and parts required for assigned area.
• Supplies and maintains required hand tools and
• Initiate, review, and follows all standard operating procedures for area of responsibility.
• Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department.

What are we looking for?

• Job-related experience for 2 years minimum in the manufacturing environment.
• Apprenticeship in a Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering discipline.
• Experience of preventative and planned maintenance.
• The ability to assist with breakdowns and line conversions.
• Sound communication skills, ability to clearly explain processes.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.

• Annual salary starting at £53,487
