Job summary

BGIS is recruiting a Shift Engineer/Technician for a prestigious commercial building in the City of London. You will join a shift team responsible for the maintenance and operation of critical building services, ensuring reliability, compliance and customer service.

The role suits electrically or mechanically qualified engineers with commercial building maintenance experience. You will perform PPMs, respond to faults, monitor the BMS and supervise subcontractors, with training and pension

Qualifications

• Proven experience in commercial building maintenance and critical environments.
• PPM, reactive maintenance and fault finding experience.
• Strong understanding of building services systems (electrical, HVAC, mechanical).

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical and electrical building services equipment.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests and plant breakdowns.
• Fault find and repair M&E systems including HVAC, power, lighting and related plant.
• Monitor and maintain critical systems for operational performance.
• Use BMS to monitor environmental conditions and identify faults.
• Ensure work complies with Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.
• Supervise specialist subcontractors and review completed works.
• Maintain maintenance records and update CAFM systems.
• Support delivery of service levels and customer service standards.

We are looking for a skilled Shift Engineer to join our team at a prestigious commercial building in the City of London. Working as part of a shift team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of critical building services systems, ensuring high levels of reliability, compliance and customer service. This role is suitable for either electrically or mechanically qualified engineers with commercial building maintenance experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical and electrical building services equipment.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests and plant breakdowns.
• Fault find and repair a range of M&E systems including HVAC, power, lighting and associated plant.
• Monitor and maintain critical systems to ensure operational performance.
• Use the Building Management System (BMS) to monitor environmental conditions and identify faults.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.
• Supervise specialist subcontractors and review completed works.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and update CAFM systems.

Candidate Requirements

• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• Previous experience in a commercial building, critical environment or facilities management setting.
• Experience carrying out PPMs, reactive maintenance and fault finding.
• Good understanding of building services systems including electrical, HVAC and mechanical plant.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
