Job description
The role

As a Shift Driver, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will contribute to a high-profile MOD contract as a Driver, reporting directly to the Transport Manager. This role offers a chance to play a key part in supporting operational logistics within a dynamic and mission-focused environment.

Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Licensed to operate cars, vans, minibuses, and coaches (minimum Cat D licence)
  • Responsible for daily vehicle inspections, fault reporting, and maintaining cleanliness
  • Expected to work flexibly across all areas of the contract, beyond driving duties
  • Perform tasks aligned with training, knowledge, and competencies to support delivery of contracted outputs to the MoD.

This role is full time working 39.5 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Cosford, Shropshire. Shift patterns detailed below:

Shift patterns

Early Shift: Mon - Thu: 0630 -1530, Fri: 0630 – 1230

Day Shift: Mon - Thu: 0730 – 1630, Fri: 0730 – 1330

Late Shift: Mon - Thu: 0930 – 1830, Fri: 1200 - 1800

Essential experience of Shift Driver:

Essential experience in operating Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) or passenger coaches, demonstrating advanced driving proficiency and safety awareness.

Qualifications for the Shift Driver:
  • Holder of a full Category D driver’s licence (excluding Category D1)
  • Experienced driver with Category B/B1 and PSV Category D qualifications, demonstrating capability across a range of vehicle types.
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service + Security Check (EDBSSC) security clearance for this role.
