Job summary

Kronospan is seeking a Chemical Plant Operative for shift-based work at the Chirk site in Wales. You will operate resin/formalin production, monitor processes and ensure product quality, with routine sampling and data recording.

The role requires GCSEs, a can-do attitude, and willingness to work nights/weekends. Training for control systems and FLT is provided as part of a permanent contract.

Qualifications

• GCSEs English, Maths and Science at Grade C/4 or above.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, ability to learn plant-specific control systems.
• A can-do attitude with accuracy under production demands.
• Willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends on a rota.
• Previous experience in chemical processing or manufacturing environment.
• Background or interest in chemistry.
• FLT licence (training available if not held).

Responsibilities

• Operate plant and control systems to produce Resin/Formalin to required quality.
• Monitor critical process parameters and adjust to maintain quality and output.
• Carry out routine sampling, testing and analysis of product and process streams.
• Record accurate batch and shift data and ensure clear handover between shifts.
• Follow safe systems of work for start-up, shutdown and emergency procedures.
• Carry out routine plant inspections and basic maintenance; report defects.
• Coordinate safe loading, discharge and despatch of materials, including tankers.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, environmental compliance and waste disposal.
• Support colleagues and new starters through on-the-job training and knowledge sharing.
• Provide flexible cover for holidays, sickness and other absence as required.
