SHEQ Manager vacancy in Heathrow - London (282DM)
Our client is a multi-layered technology provider delivering advanced communications solutions across the transport and construction sectors. This role is responsible for enforcing company Policies, Processes, and Procedures to ensure that all departments align with regulatory and operational standards. Reporting to the Head of Compliance, the SHEQ Manager ensures that Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards are consistently maintained. This role is pivotal to supporting safe, compliant, and efficient operations across the entire business.
Main Purpose of the Role
- Promote and support a positive, proactive safety culture throughout the organisation.
- Ensure all operations comply with industry-aligned safety standards that minimise accidents, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Drive performance improvements and strengthen compliance culture through the implementation and maintenance of Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality management systems (including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001), alongside all current legislation and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct safety risk assessments prior to project commencement; ensure safe installation practices and oversee external contractors.
- Develop and maintain H&S, Environmental, and Quality processes to support project delivery, maintenance contracts, and engineering/operational activities.
- Strengthen auditing processes to rapidly address or prevent compliance issues.
- Own and maintain the Carbon Net Zero Plan, including updates required for the annual Carbon Footprint Report.
- Lead and champion the organisation’s net zero initiatives and act as an advocate for carbon reduction.
- Motivate staff to meet and exceed compliance standards, driving efficiency and operational excellence.
- Analyse and interpret data quickly and accurately to support decision-making.
- Ensure effective reporting procedures and record-keeping across all SHEQ areas.
- Deliver compliance training to cross-functional teams.
- Review H&S, Environmental, and Quality procedures to ensure alignment with industry standards.
- Act as owner of incident reporting, including accidents and safety breaches.
- Stay current with changes in health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Deliver in-house training on safety and environmental awareness.
- Conduct investigations to identify root causes of compliance issues.
- Carry out remote site visits and attend monthly stakeholder meetings, ensuring agreed actions are documented and completed promptly.
- Liaise with regulatory and enforcement bodies where applicable.
- Maintain integrity and accuracy of documentation across all business systems.
- Raise and close out Non-Conformances, Recommendations for Improvement, and Observations in collaboration with relevant managers.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Strong understanding of ISO 45001 (Lead Auditor) or relevant Health & Safety qualification.
- Strong understanding of ISO 14001 (Lead Auditor) or relevant Environmental qualification.
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001 (Lead Auditor) or relevant Quality qualification.
- IOSH Graduate membership with expertise in Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- NEBOSH Level 6 Health & Safety qualification.
- NEBOSH Construction H&S Practical.
- NEBOSH Managing and Controlling Hazards in Construction.
- NEBOSH Fire Safety Management.
- NEBOSH Environmental Management Level 6.
- CITB SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
- FORS Practitioner (desirable).
- Ability to remain focused and effective under pressure and during periods of change.
- Ability to work cross-functionally when managing change or resolving issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management capabilities.
- Ability to follow standards and adhere to procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Proactive problem-solver with strong attention to detail.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a compliance-focused role.
- Excellent written and verbal English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Relevant regulatory experience (H&S, environmental standards).
- Proven stakeholder engagement capability.
- Solid understanding of risk and compliance principles and frameworks.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Strong knowledge of Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM 2015).
- Patience and resilience when working in high-pressure environments.
