Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading construction and infrastructure contractor to recruit a SHEQ Advisor.

As SHEQ Advisor, you will support the delivery and continual improvement of the company's SHEQ Management Systems, working hands-on with Site Teams, Project Managers and Contract Managers. You will act as a trusted partner to operational teams - auditing, advising, influencing, and ensuring compliance across multiple sites, while contributing to a culture where SHEQ is embedded into everyday activity.

*Please note that this role is an initial 12-month fixed-term contract with a strong chance of becoming a permanent appointment.

In your new role:
  • Support the SHEQ Manager with the development, implementation, and maintenance of SHEQ Management Systems
  • Provide professional, day-to-day SHEQ advice to project and site teams across all operational areas
  • Carry out internal audits and inspections, identifying non-conformances, best practice, and improvement opportunities
  • Assist in the creation and review of operational risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Support SHEQ-related change initiatives and ensure alignment with company policies
  • Keep up-to-date with all relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards
  • Act as a point of contact with external bodies (HSENI, local authorities) on behalf of the SHEQ Manager
  • Prepare SHEQ performance reports, analysing trends and supporting improvement strategies
  • Conduct accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and recommending preventive measures
What you will need to succeed:
  • Experience in a SHEQ or equivalent role
  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations in the UK and Ireland
  • Knowledge of auditing, risk assessments, and incident management
  • IT and numeracy skills (MS Office)
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
  • Degree in Health & Safety, Quality, or a related discipline.
  • Experience within construction, utilities, or maintenance project environments
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and integrated management system auditing
  • Other relevant Health & Safety certifications
