Job summary

Vickerstock partners with an established construction and fit-out contractor to appoint a SHEQ Advisor. You will work with project teams and senior management to deliver practical SHEQ guidance and support the Integrated Management Systems aligned with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 across live sites.

You will conduct inspections, audits and RAMS reviews, monitor legislation compliance, and assist with investigations and continuous improvement across UK & Ireland.

Qualifications

• SHEQ experience within construction or fit-out projects.
• Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience conducting site inspections and compliance reviews.
• Experience reviewing RAMS and construction risk assessments.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 management systems.
• Ability to maintain documentation and performance reports.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across UK & Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular SHEQ inspections and audits across live construction projects.
• Provide practical Health & Safety guidance to project teams and subcontractors.
• Review RAMS and construction phase plans and related safety documentation.
• Monitor compliance with UK and Irish H&S legislation and client requirements.
• Support investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain and improve Integrated Management Systems per ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001.
• Coordinate internal audits and support external certification activities.
• Monitor environmental compliance, waste management, and resource efficiency.
• Support quality inspections, non-conformance reporting and corrective actions.
• Maintain SHEQ records and performance reports.
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and SHEQ training.
• Collaborate with operations to drive continuous SHEQ improvements.

Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with an established construction and fit-out contractor on the appointment of a SHEQ Advisor.

Working closely with project teams and senior management, you will provide practical SHEQ guidance across live sites, while supporting the development and maintenance of the company's Integrated Management Systems in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

In your new role:

• Conduct regular SHEQ inspections, audits and compliance reviews across live construction projects
• Provide practical Health & Safety advice and guidance to project teams and subcontractors
• Review RAMS, construction phase plans and associated project safety documentation
• Monitor compliance with UK and Irish H&S legislation, company procedures and client requirements
• Support accident, incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
• Maintain and improve Integrated Management Systems in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
• Coordinate internal audits and support external certification and surveillance assessmentsMonitor environmental compliance, including waste management, pollution prevention and resource efficiency
• Support quality inspections, non-conformance reporting and corrective action management
• Maintain SHEQ documentation, compliance records and performance reports
• Support the delivery of site inductions, toolbox talks and SHEQ training
• Work closely with operational teams to promote continuous improvement in SHEQ performance

What you will need to succeed:

• Previous SHEQ/HSEQ experience within construction, fit-out or a related industry
• Strong working knowledge of UK construction Health & Safety legislation
• Experience conducting site inspections, audits and compliance reviews
• Practical experience reviewing RAMS and construction-related risk assessments
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
• Experience supporting internal audits and maintaining compliance documentation
• Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge unsafe practices
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification
• IOSH membership
• ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 auditing qualifications
• Relevant construction, environmental or quality qualifications
