Sheet Metal Worker / Light Fabricator / Welder

Location - Scotstoun, Glasgow

1 year+ contract

Highly competitive rates (Standard 36 + overtime)

Our client, a highly successful and prestigious Marine Engineering Business is seeking to source Sheet Metal Worker/Light Fabricator/Welders for a large Naval Project for minimum 1 year contract.

Candidate Requirements
  • Trade Papers (SVQ, NVQ, National Certificate, Modern Apprenticeship, SJIB/Gold card) are required and trade tests are done on first day followed by H&S inductions.
  • Candidates will be considered with SVQ Level 3 with any trade with Sheet Metal experience
  • Comfortable at working at height/confined space
  • Clear understanding of SHE Induction, COSHH risk awareness and manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of fabrication and installation drawings
  • Hand skills required for assembly and fabrication purposes
Core Responsibilities
  • To comply with SHE regulations at all times
  • Fabricating, assembling and installing parts of the ship, dependant on their trade
  • Using a range of hand and mechanical tools and equipment to complete fabrication activities
  • Workshop work
  • Fabrication of ventilation systems i.e. spiral and box vents using drawings and a range of hand tools.
  • Fabrication of sheet metal furniture i.e. Lockers, cabinets, store modules using drawings and a range of mechanical and hand tools
  • Workshop focussed on Fabrication of metal work for Ventilation system or Ship furniture
  • On ship - installation of metal work
  • To deploy their skills to the very best of their ability in aid of delivering the highest standard of product possible
Shift Schedule & Rates

Dayshift 0700 - 1630 (Mon-Thurs)

  • Standard 36 - PAYE rate £20.10 + holiday pay / Umbrella £26.90
  • Weekday & Sat Overtime - PAYE £30.15 + holiday pay / Umbrella £38.40
  • Sunday - PAYE £40.20 + holiday pay /Umbrella £50.98

Backshift 1400 - 23.30 & Nightshift 20.30 - 0600 (Mon-Thurs)

  • Standard 36 - PAYE rate £26.73 + holiday pay / Umbrella £35.67
  • Weekday & Sat Overtime - PAYE £30.15 + holiday pay / Umbrella £38.40
  • Sunday - PAYE £40.20 + holiday pay /Umbrella £50.98
Radius Allowance

Radius allowance of £8.00 per hour on standard 36 for candidates 39 miles+.

Security Clearance

Ability to satisfy Baseline Security clearance and Disclosure Scotland are mandatory for this key role.
