Job description

Position: Sheet Metal Worker

Location: Welwyn Garden City

Salary: £13p/h-£16p/h

Job Overview
  • Fabricate components and assemblies in a workshop environment to precise specifications.
  • Read and manufacture parts directly from in-house and customer-supplied engineering drawings.
  • Work with various materials including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.
  • Operate a range of workshop tools and machinery to complete fabrication and finishing processes.
  • Carry out general sheet metal duties including cutting, drilling, forming, and assembly.
  • Set and operate saws, drills, and sertabush insert machines.
  • Support production efficiency by identifying and resolving issues in fabrication or assembly processes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area in accordance with company health & safety standards.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Assist with additional fabrication or finishing tasks as required by the production team.
  • Experience in brake press and laser cutting operations would be an advantage.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Worker or Fabricator in a workshop or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed technical drawings.
  • Competent in working with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to integrate within a small team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and proactive with a positive work ethic.
  • Flexibility to work overtime when required.
  • Knowledge of fabrication tools, machinery, and general workshop practices.
Salary & Benefits

Hourly Rate: £13.00 - £16.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Hours: 35 hours per week (overtime available)

Factory Opening Hours
  • Monday - Thursday: 6:00am - 4:00pm
  • Friday: 6:00am - 12:00pm
