Overview

Job Title: Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Advisor

Location: Barnsley

Business: Fresh-Pak, part of The Compleat Food Group

Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:30am–5:00pm | Friday 8:30am–4:00pm

We’re now looking for a dedicated and proactive Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Advisor to join our team at our Barnsley site. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and sustainable workplace in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the reduction of SHE risks and hazards across the site.
• Help the site achieve and maintain legal compliance.
• Deliver engaging health & safety training and toolbox talks.
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
• Lead and document incident investigations and root cause analyses (RCA).
• Provide practical SHE advice and support across all departments.
• Manage and audit contractors, visitors, and permits to work.
• Support group SHE initiatives, campaigns, and compliance audits.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure strong document control.
• Liaise with external authorities and stakeholders as required.
• Deputise for the SHE Manager and contribute to wider SHE forums across TCFG.

About You

• You’ll be an experienced and confident SHE professional with the ability to engage, influence, and drive a positive safety culture. You’ll thrive in a hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Minimum Level 3 Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent).
• Environmental qualification (IEMA or similar).
• At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role within manufacturing or FMCG.
• Strong understanding of BS ISO 45001 and environmental management systems.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and influencing skills.
• A collaborative, proactive, and people-focused approach.
