Job description

My client are a leading designer and manufacturing of injection moulded products for the UK and European markets. For the last 60 years, this business has been at the forefront of innovation, sustainability, and manufacturing processes within their sector and supply several brands recognised across the world.

As a privately owned business, they have a proud record of enhancing and developing their staff through training and have promoted many individuals through the system to the roles they sit in today. As a Setter/Operator on their range of moulding machinery, you will find yourself working closely with other teams to achieve set production goals and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Daily running of moulding machines in line with the capacity plan.
  • To monitor machine utilization for all shifts on the monitoring system.
  • Updating system to indicate machine status i.e., running, tool change, sampling etc.
  • Check during shifts that all available machines are running. Reporting to senior setter or Shift Manager any issues which effect machine running.
  • Carry out tool changes to achieve maximum utilization in conjunction with mould shop plan and running priority.
  • Promote SMED principles to achieve rapid tool changes.
  • Monitor tool changes per shift and durations, identify areas for improvement.
  • Target worst case cycle times and install improvement actions.
  • Check daily quality issues with quality department/inspectors and plan corrective actions.
Qualifications

Ideally you will have 3-5 years' experience in a similar role within the injection moulding manufacturing sector and be able to demonstrate knowledge and a technical skill set at interview. A background or working knowledge of continuous improvement or lean techniques is preferred, but not essential.
