Responsabilités

• Read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Measure, mark out and set out steel components accurately.
• Position, align and fit steel sections, plates and structural components.
• Assemble steelwork using appropriate tools, clamps and fixtures.
• Check dimensions, measurements and alignment against technical drawings.
• Prepare components for welding and carry out tack welding where required.
• Work closely with fabricators and welders to ensure accurate assembly.
• Identify and report discrepancies or quality issues.
• Use workshop tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and follow health and safety procedures.
• Keep the working area clean, organised and safe.

Job Description: Steelwork Setter / Fitter

Salary: £29,484 per annum

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Setter / Fitter to join a busy steel fabrication business based in Leicester.

The successful candidate will have previous hands‑on experience in steelwork setting‑out, fitting and assembly. They must be confident reading engineering drawings, measuring and positioning steel components, and ensuring work is completed accurately to the required specifications.

Formal qualifications are not essential for this position. We are looking for someone with practical industry experience, a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently within a fabrication workshop.

• Read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience as a Setter, Steelwork Fitter or in a similar fabrication role.
• Practical experience within the steel fabrication or metalworking industry.

• Good measuring, marking‑out and setting‑out skills.
• Experience fitting, aligning and assembling steel components.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A reliable, hardworking and safety‑conscious attitude.

Qualifications

Formal qualifications are not essential. Candidates will be considered based on their relevant practical experience, technical ability and knowledge of steelwork fabrication.
