Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Service Transition Manager to join us and lead the transition of new digital systems and services into business as usual across our Digital services and Research Systems Programme (RSP). The postholder will manage complex transition activities across multiple teams and suppliers, ensuring effective delivery of new systems and services from Service Release to Business As Usual (BAU).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Service Transition for all Digital & RSP services within the Health Research Authority.
- Act as SME for Service Transition, liaising between the RSP team and the wider business community.
- Coordinate transition activities across projects, suppliers and operational teams within the Service Delivery team.
- Implement transition processes for ongoing and future services, ensuring alignment with ITIL frameworks.
- Operate across all specialist stages of the Service Lifecycle: Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation, and Continual Service Improvement.
- Maintain strong stakeholder engagement and communication throughout transition projects.
Key Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in Service Transition within a large-scale digital transformation program.
- Strong knowledge of ITIL frameworks; ITIL4 Foundation qualification required.
- Significant experience of successfully implementing and transitioning new services into BAU with focus on user experience, performance, security and meeting programme deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to manage end‑to‑end service lifecycle, including service retirement.
- Excellent stakeholder management, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to inclusivity and valuing diversity.
- Understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, SAFe) and data protection regulations including GDPR.
- Master’s level education or equivalent experience in service management provision.
- Desirable: ITIL4 Practitioner qualification and knowledge of research systems.
