Service Technician - Portsmouth
Your main responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repair work and the routine replacement of
- components and in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+ etc)
- To rectify and reduce faults on lift/escalator equipment in cases of breakdown and check to confirm correct functioning.
- Check the lift/escalator function as part of maintenance, checks to include, speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise,
- temperature and power supplies using approved company issued tooling and protective equipment
- Carry out the routine inspection and adjustment of lift/escalator in accordance with approved procedures. Reinstate
- lift/escalator and complete service documentation
- Carrying out more advanced fault finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, technical manuals
- and appropriate test equipment, restoring equipment to service. Competence is required to make effective use of
- written or graphical information
- Carry out site surveys and attend all relevant training sessions to keep up to date on technical knowledge and skills
- Work in accordance with the Company’s Safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements, as well as setting a personal
- example of safe behaviour.
- Contribute to the Company safety objectives, where necessary by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems under their direct control and implementing agreed changes (where applicable) to its safety
- management system.
What you bring
- Experience in Lift/Escalator Servicing/ Maintenance/ Repairs preferred
- Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator maintenance or equivalent
- Advanced Electrical and Mechanical knowledge, including Multi-Brand equipment
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- The ability to work under pressure, to deadlines and within efficiencies
- The ability to work independently with a flexible approach
- Good communication skills at different levels (Client/Service Leader/Inspectors)
- Manual dexterity - Requires the use of hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate
- various hand and power tools and to record written information
- Proven fault finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good administration skills and punctuality
- Full UK driving License
