Your main responsibilities
  • Carry out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repair work and the routine replacement of components in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+ etc).
  • Rectify and reduce faults on lift/escalator equipment in cases of breakdown, and check to confirm correct functioning.
  • Check lift/escalator function as part of maintenance; checks to include speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature and power supplies using approved company issued tooling and protective equipment.
  • Carry out routine inspection and adjustment of lift/escalator in accordance with approved procedures; reinstate lift/escalator and complete service documentation.
  • Carry out more advanced fault finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, technical manuals and appropriate test equipment, restoring equipment to service. Competence is required to make effective use of written or graphical information.
  • Carry out site surveys and attend all relevant training sessions to keep up to date on technical knowledge and skills.
  • Work in accordance with the Company’s Safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements, as well as setting a personal example of safe behaviour.
  • Contribute to the Company safety objectives, where necessary by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems under their direct control and implementing agreed changes (where applicable) to its safety management system.
What you bring
  • Experience in Lift/Escalator Servicing/ Maintenance/ Repairs preferred.
  • Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator maintenance or equivalent.
  • Advanced Electrical and Mechanical knowledge, including Multi-Brand equipment.
  • Advanced problem‑solving skills.
  • The ability to work under pressure, to deadlines and within efficiencies.
  • The ability to work independently with a flexible approach.
  • Manual dexterity – requires the use of hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate various hand and power tools and to record written information.
  • Proven fault finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Good administration skills and punctuality.
  • Full UK driving Licence.
