Job description
Service Receptionist

Kingswear, Devon

Are you a highly organised, outgoing individual with excellent customer service skills, strong computer literacy and attention to detail? Could you thrive within a fast‑paced team in a professional environment? If so, read on.

Who will I be working for?

Darthaven Marina is located in the stunning South Hams countryside, surrounded by rolling hills and in a truly tranquil setting. Our impressive 270 berth marina and boatyard has grown over the past 30 years, and we pride ourselves in the first‑class service all our teams provide to our berth holders, visitors and customers. You will be working with our teams of Marine Engineers, Marine Electricians, Shipwrights and our Quayside Lifting team.

What are the benefits?
  • Salary of £26,000 – £30,000 dependent on experience
  • Generous holiday entitlement
  • Pension
  • Branded company clothing
  • Stunning working location
  • On‑site parking

This is a brilliant opportunity for an individual with a great customer focus to join our team, providing services for some of the most prestigious boats available. Working in one of the South West’s most beautiful settings, you will have the chance to contribute to the day‑to‑day running of our stunning marina while acting as a key point of contact for customers and staff.

What will I be doing?

As a Service Receptionist, you will politely greet and articulately assist our service customers and support our Service Team, who manage a wide range of duties, often with tight deadlines.

You will triage customer requests in person, over the telephone and by e‑mail. You will prompt for and accurately record relevant information to enable you to efficiently take messages and route requests to the appropriate service colleague. You will distribute customer requests evenly across the Service Team and gain an awareness of the Service Coordinator role so you may support our team most effectively.

Using Sage CRM, you will support our Service Team by raising accurate works instructions, producing high‑quality estimates and raising customer invoices. You will keep our customers regularly informed in person, by telephone and e‑mail and in a professional manner throughout.

You will handle customer card payments, including taking deposits, often liaising with other teams, such as our Quayside Lifting Team, to ensure this process is handled effectively.

You will also be responsible for the smooth handling of a number of specific administrative tasks over the course of the boating year, including our “Winter Lay‑up” process. This involves administering the works requests of approximately 200 customers, so utmost attention to detail is essential.

What do I need?
  • The ability to multitask and prioritise in a busy office environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong communication, time management and IT skills
  • An enthusiastic, flexible attitude

Knowledge of the marine industry and/or technical terminology would be beneficial, but not essential.
