  • Oversee car parking provision and civil parking enforcement.
  • Assess spatial strategies' impact on traffic networks.
Job description

This is a strategic leadership role, with responsibility for the delivery of the Council's functions and duties under the Highways Act 1980, Traffic Management Act 2004 and related legislation.

Responsibilities
  • Long term transportation and infrastructure planning, through the development of the Council's transportation strategy and related policy development.
  • Close liaison with West Yorkshire Combined Authority, to achieve shared transport objectives.
  • The effective and efficient delivery of capital projects and programmes, including major highway schemes and the highway maintenance and safer roads programmes. This involves working collaboratively with colleagues who manage the Council's operational depots and the commissioning of works by private sector providers.
  • Network management, including street works and reactive maintenance, improvements to the existing highway (S278) and adoption of new highways (S38).
  • All aspects of road and pedestrian safety, including delivery of a safer roads programme.
  • The Council's on-street and off-street car parking provision and civil parking enforcement.
  • Assisting the Local Planning Authority by assessing the impact of spatial strategies and development proposals on the highway and transport networks.
