Service Manager – Emergency and Acute Medicine (Bedford Site)

This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of the busiest and fast‑paced environments of the Trust as a Service Manager for Emergency and Acute Medicine at our Bedford site.

Working as part of a large diverse multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will be a core member of the operational and tactical team, supporting the delivery of urgent and emergency care across the Emergency Department and Acute wards.

There will also be opportunities to work on key service developments and support the delivery and strategic plans for the services.

  • Support day‑to‑day operational running of the emergency department and acute areas with the triumvirate leadership team.
  • Take a critical role in the development and delivery of service improvements.
  • Work collaboratively with the General Manager, Clinical Leads, Matron, and other clinical services to develop, implement, and review service delivery and improvement plans.
  • Ensure financial controls are established and maintained within the scope of the clinical specialty.
  • Act as a champion for patient safety, operational effectiveness and quality.
  • Drive the achievement of the Trust’s corporate goals and business plan, including performance standards incorporating quality, safety, contractual, financial, and people aspects.
  • Lead by example and act as an ambassador for the Trust, championing its values and upholding the highest standards of behaviour and compassion for all colleagues.
