Job summary

Tesco PLC is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to service and repair a range of store equipment, delivering safe, compliant and reliable operations. You’ll join a skilled team maintaining dock levellers, lifts, gates, doors and related plant, responding to breakdowns, and recording activity digitally.

Ideal candidates bring ONC or equivalent and recognised mechanical apprenticeship, with strong fault-finding skills and a proactive, safety-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with diverse access control and lift systems.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
• Familiarity with powered doors, lifting platforms, and compacting equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out maintenance and repairs on Dock Levellers DDLS systems, Scissor Lifts, Back Yard Gates, Sectional Doors, Roller Shutters, Rapid Roll Doors, Fire Shutters, lbs, Pallet Stackers.
• Respond to breakdowns swiftly and effectively to minimize downtime.
• Conduct inspections, testing and certification to ensure compliance and safe operation.
• Document all maintenance activity using digital reporting tools.
• Collaborate with site operations teams to ensure work is performed safely and with minimal disruption.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance procedures.

You will need

Operational Skills:

• ONC or equivalent
• Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2/3
• Full driving licence
• Health & Safety awareness
• Communication & stakeholder management
• Office 365 knowledge
• Completed all technical training upskilling modules relevant to skillset
• Relevant Experience: Proven experience with diverse access control and lift systems
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
• Familiarity with powered doors, lifting platforms, and compacting equipment
• Understanding of safety and regulatory requirements for workplace machinery
• Annual bonus scheme of up to 10% of base salary
