Overview

We are looking for a highly organised, detail‑oriented, and proactive professional to join the Royal Marsden Hospital Foundation Trust as part of our Private Care Coding & Data Quality team. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the accurate, efficient and timely management of billing and credit control queries related to private care work, supporting both internal teams and external partners.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate, efficient and timely billing and credit control for private care work, including the management of Embassy billing and Consolidated Billing to embassy clients.
  • Analyse outstanding debts, develop recovery strategies and improve the self‑pay pathway for patients.
  • Lead, motivate and develop staff through effective recruitment, training, performance management and by ensuring compliance with Trust policies on health, safety, equality and conduct.
  • Collate, document, maintain and implement procedural changes to address and resolve queries from patients, billing and credit control teams and internal systems.
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures to maximise income and cash flow while minimising bad debt to the Trust.
  • Liaise closely with private patient accounts, billing, credit control, systems and coding teams, contracts, accounts and clinical departments to minimise the risk of future debt.
  • Liaise with Billing and Credit Control Managers and their teams to train, advise and assist them in delivering accurate and effective quality services.
  • Assist with quality improvement projects and develop action plans in line with Trust policies and private care targets.
  • Provide weekly performance reports, define key performance indicators and implement compliance with Standard Operating Procedures across the Billing and Credit teams.
  • Promote a culture where staff are actively involved in decisions on how services are provided and targets delivered, and maintain good relationships within the Directorate and across the Trust.
  • Resolve complaints, manage Healthcode exception activity and enhance service quality through collaborative work with billing, credit control and clinical departments.
