Job summary

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is seeking a detail-oriented Service Engineer in West Malling, UK to evaluate, repair and calibrate thermal imaging products. You will work with a global service team to deliver high-quality aftersales support and ensure compliance with ISO, ATEX and NFPA directives.

The role requires hands-on electronics repair experience, metrology knowledge, and proficiency with SAP/PR1 and Oracle ticketing. Training and cross‑discipline growth are encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Associate of Science in electronics/engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in electronics repair/assembly.
  • Ability to operate electronic test equipment and navigate OS and embedded programming languages.
  • Strong metrology principles and calibration laboratory operations.
  • Fluent written and verbal English communication.
  • Experience with SAP/PR1 and Oracle ticketing is a plus.
  • Experience in thermography and/or optics preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Export control license eligibility required.

Job Summary

We are searching for a detail-orientated, results-driven service engineer to join our growing business. Reporting to the local Service Manager within the Global Service organization, the Service Engineer plays a critical role in preserving Teledyne-FLIR's position as the Global Leader for thermal imaging solutions through the evaluation, failure diagnosis, repair and calibration/adjustment of thermal imaging products and systems. The work environment is team-based, and collaboration is encouraged. Completed work assignments are evaluated by the service manager who provides coaching and skill development—fostering an environment of personal accountability, empowerment, and growth. Compliance with Global Trade, ISO, ATEX, and NFPA directives is a requirement of the position.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Receives work assignments from the Service Manager and/or Lead Technician and operates as part of a team responsible for delivering the full range of aftermarket services, including repair and calibration of thermal imaging product solutions.
  • Employs knowledge of electronic theory, thermography, and optics throughout the performance of daily work assignments.
  • Works in a collaborative manner with Customer Service personnel and provides timely updates and progress reports to the local Service manager. Periodically engages customers to explain complex technical issues and proposed solutions.
  • Utilizes the full range of hand tools and electronic test equipment common to the industry.
  • Performs software/firmware updates on camera products—leverages knowledge of embedded programming languages/computer information systems in the performance of service actions.
  • Documents all product evaluation and repair actions using the SAP PR1 Customer Service module.
  • Participates in ATEX, HazLoc and NFPA training and certification efforts; ensures all service actions are performed in accordance with relevant work instructions and directives.
  • Receives cross‑training in other disciplines to increase team capacity—demonstrates a consistently positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
Job Qualifications
  • Associate of Science in an electronics/engineering discipline or equivalent work experience is required.
  • 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience in the electronics repair/assembly industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate electronic test equipment and to navigate computer operating systems and embedded programming languages.
  • Solid understanding of metrology principles and calibration laboratory operations.
  • The successful candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Hands‑on experience with SAP/PR1 customer service module and Oracle ticketing system is a plus.
  • Experience in thermography and/or optics is preferred.
  • Candidates must be able to work at a bench and from a standing position for up to one hour at a time.
  • Technicians are expected to lift objects weighing up to 40 lbs. from time‑to‑time.
  • This position requires access to export‑controlled information or items (i.e., regulated technology or technical data per ITAR/EAR US regulations). Applicants must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
