Service Engineer - Cable Harness Systems (Field-Based Work Included)

Location: Primarily Telford, with travel across the UK

Employment Type: Full-time

Travel: Regular UK travel with overnight stays and occasional weekend work

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Service Engineer to join our team, supporting the manufacture, installation, and repair of cable harness systems. This role involves a mix of workshop-based and field service work, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality solutions for defence and rail applications.

You'll be working hands-on with cable harnesses, providing technical support, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The position offers a dynamic environment with opportunities to work on cutting-edge projects and collaborate with clients and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build, rework, and repair cable harnesses using approved procedures and standards (e.g., IPC).
  • Support installation and commissioning of cable harness systems at customer sites.
  • Conduct risk assessments and follow health & safety protocols, including permit-to-work systems.
  • Liaise with clients to confirm job requirements and ensure safety measures are in place.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reports for all tasks.
  • Work independently or as part of a team, maintaining professionalism in client-facing situations.
  • Travel across the UK, including overnight stays and occasional weekend work.
Requirements
  • Practical experience with cable harness assembly, repair, and installation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and general IT tools.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours.
