Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking an Electronic/Electrical Service Engineer to install, commission, fault find and repair instrumentation, PLC control and automation systems for the marine industry. This field-based role is commutable to Bristol, Liverpool, Newcastle or Maldon (Essex) with UK-wide site work and 10–14 day projects.

Excellent overtime and earning potential are offered, plus a company vehicle, annual bonus, private healthcare and a pension.

Qualifications

• Hands-on electronic or electrical field service experience in an industrial setting.
• Experience with instrumentation and PLC control systems is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel and stay away for multi-week project deployments.

SALARY:

Up to £65,000

JOB SPECIFICATION:

Electrical Engineer, Electronic Service Engineer : Instrumentation, PLC Control and Automation Systems - Marine Industry

This is a field based Electronic / Electrical Service Engineer vacancy for a very well established and respected specialist in instrumentation, PLC control and automation systems to the marine industry.

This role will be split between (80%) scheduled electrical / electronic installation, commissioning and refit projects - typically staying away for 10-14 days at sites across the UK.

The remainder (20%) will be reactionary fault finding and repair (1-2 day trips) on first and third party Instrumentation, PLC controls and automation equipment or machinery.

The majority of work will be in the UK, though you will work on international projects - perhaps 6 weeks per year and including trips to Australia, Dubai and the USA.

REQUIREMENTS:

We require a practical, hands on Engineer with a track record as an electronic or electrical Service / Maintenance Engineer in an industrial setting. A good, practical grasp of electronic engineering is required. Any experience of instrumentation and / or understanding of PLC control systems would be an advantage. You must be prepared to travel and stay away as required.
