This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading UK packaging machinery business, working with a wide variety of equipment and supporting customers across multiple industries.

This business supplies, installs, and maintains an extensive range of packaging machinery — from simple stand‑alone machines to fully automated production lines. Their machinery is used across industries including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, logistics, and retail. With strong growth and rising demand for their services, they are now expanding their field service engineering team.

This role offers excellent earning potential, paid travel, a company vehicle, full product training, and genuine career progression opportunities in a supportive environment.

Your Role – Field Service Engineer

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be a key technical representative for the business, ensuring customers’ machinery runs efficiently, safely, and reliably. You will travel to customer sites across the UK, working independently while being supported by a knowledgeable technical team. Your work will vary from site to site, giving you exposure to a wide range of mechanical and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Service and maintain a broad variety of packaging machinery including shrink wrappers, flow wrappers, sealers, conveyors, and fully automated systems
  • Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical, electrical, and control systems, including 3‑phase motors
  • Install and commission machinery at customer sites, ensuring proper setup and performance
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimise downtime and extend equipment life
  • Provide customer support and training, ensuring operators understand correct operation and maintenance procedures
  • Maintain accurate documentation including service reports, repair logs, and compliance records
  • Travel across the UK, with occasional overnight stays; travel time and expenses are fully paid
  • Work safely and efficiently while adhering to all company and industry health and safety standards

This role provides hands‑on experience with complex machinery and technical systems, offering the chance to continually develop mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.

Training & Development:
  • Comprehensive product and machinery training
  • Ongoing technical upskilling on new equipment and systems
  • Opportunities for advanced courses to enhance specialist knowledge
Career Progression:
  • Clear progression routes into roles such as:
  • Senior Field Engineer
  • Technical Specialist
  • Installation Lead
  • Technical Trainer
  • Engineering Team Leader

This is a company that invests in its people, supporting long‑term career growth and encouraging internal promotion for skilled engineers.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical engineering experience
  • Knowledge of 3‑phase induction motors
  • Background in field service, maintenance, or similar technical roles
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent customer service
  • Flexibility to travel across the UK, including overnight stays when required
  • Commutable to the North West for initial training and office visits
  • A practical, hands‑on attitude and a passion for solving technical challenges
  • Full UK driving licence

If you enjoy variety, technical problem‑solving, and working with cutting‑edge machinery across different sites, this is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, growing engineering team. You’ll gain invaluable experience, develop your skills, and enjoy a rewarding career in a supportive environment.
