Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, commission, maintain and refurbish packaging machinery used in the food manufacturing sector. You will cover the Northwest and stay away one night per week, with 90% of work on client sites.

Role includes local travel, on‑site mentoring from a senior engineer for six months, and full product training across UK and Europe. Home-based with occasional nationwide travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Experienced food factory maintenance engineer with packaging machinery experience.
• A full apprenticeship up to HNC in Electrical & Electronic engineering preferred.
• 18th Edition wiring regulations knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, repair and refurbish packaging machines.
• Travel to client sites across the Northwest with ~1 overnight per week.
• Receive full product training in the UK and Europe, with on-site mentoring for 6 months.

BASIC SALARY:

up to £45,000

BENEFITS:

LOCATION:

Home based and 90% covering client sites in the Northwest. You will ideally be living in or around Greater Manchester or elsewhere in Lancashire.

COMMUTABLE LOCATIONS:

Manchester, Liverpool, Bolton, Preston, Blackburn, Burnley, Warrington, Chester, Blackpool, Lancaster.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Field Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer - packaging machinery, food manufacturing.
• Installation, commissioning, repair & refurbishment of packaging machines used in the food manufacturing industry.
• Staying away 1 night per week on average with almost no weekend work; 90% of your work will be on client sites in the Northwest.
• Overtime paid door to door at 1.5× outside core hours and double at night and over weekends.
• Full product training in the UK and Europe, with on site mentoring from a senior Engineer for the first 6 months.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• Experienced food factory Maintenance Engineer with hands‑on experience of packaging machinery.
• Also considered experienced Field Service Engineers with packaging machinery experience in the food manufacturing markets.
• You must be a qualified Multi‑skilled Engineer with ideally a full apprenticeship up to HNC level in Electrical & Electronic engineering.
• 18th Edition & PLC knowledge would be advantageous.
