Job description
Electrical Service Engineer

Salary: 50,000 PA

Location: Office-based between Cheltenham and Tewkesbury, with regular UK, Ireland & North America travel (~70%)

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

We specialise in the design, build and installation of bespoke control systems and factory automation systems, typically for container handling and comprising unique machines, conveyors, vision inspection and robotics.

We are looking to appoint a Service Engineer to help bring our customers' automation aspirations to life. You'll work across a range of sectors-predominantly food & beverage and plastic container handling-supporting some truly ground-breaking and bespoke automation projects. To date, we've never encountered an automation challenge we couldn't support.

The Role

In this senior, hands-on role you will work both in-house and at customer sites. You'll be responsible for:

  • Electrical installation and machinery commissioning
  • Installing control panels and leading onsite machine builds
  • Post-purchase servicing and breakdown support
  • Ensuring all projects are delivered to exceptionally high standards and completed efficiently

You will take the lead in bringing systems to life, diagnosing and solving problems, and ensuring customers receive the highest level of service. You will report to the Director of Commissioning and Services and work closely with a friendly, hardworking team who support one another.

Flexibility is essential travel of up to three weeks at a time is typical. When not onsite, you will support pre-install builds in our 30,000 sq. ft facility.

To Be Considered, You Will
  • Ideally be apprentice-trained and/or qualify as an industrial electrical fitter
  • Be competent at interpreting engineering drawings (electrical essential, mechanical desirable)
  • Have strong experience with automation machinery
  • Possess a high-level understanding of industrial control systems / PLC programming
  • Have experience with pneumatics and industrial networks
  • Be hardworking, professional, and an excellent ambassador for the company
  • Be a team player with strong leadership qualities
  • Follow written instructions and method statements
  • Be familiar with hygienic environments and H&S requirements
  • Have experience working on medium-sized assemblies and sub-assemblies
  • Have strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
  • Be willing to learn and continually improve
Key Personal Requirements
  • Self-starter with mature judgement and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Organised, neat, and methodical
  • Strong communicator-polite, confident, and customer-focused
  • Punctual, trustworthy, and fluent in English (a second language is a plus)
  • Positive, "can-do" attitude-no divas!
  • Willing to travel regularly within the UK/North America (~70%)
  • Full UK driving licence (max 3 points)
  • UK/EU passport holder (must be eligible for ESTA travel to the USA)
  • Presentable and articulate

Normal hours: Mon-Thu 08:00-17:00, Fri 08:00-14:00 (Some longer hours required during travel.)
