We are looking for an experienced Service Engineer to join a specialist engineering organisation operating within the gas detection and industrial safety sector.
This is a remote, field-based position where you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance and repair of gas detection systems at customer sites across the UK.
The position would suit a technically capable and self-motivated engineer who enjoys fault-finding, working directly with customers and taking responsibility for service activities in the field.
Previous experience within gas detection, industrial safety or process industries is essential for this position.
As a Service Engineer, you will:
Install and commission gas detection equipment and systems at customer sites.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical faults.
Provide both on-site and remote technical support to customers.
Investigate technical issues and provide effective solutions to minimise equipment downtime.
Read and interpret technical documentation, wiring diagrams and system specifications.
Complete service documentation and produce accurate reports following site visits.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant procedures and safety standards.
Communicate professionally with customers and provide technical advice where required.
Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability and usability.
Provide feedback to internal technical and engineering teams regarding recurring issues and potential product improvements.
Manage your own workload and service visits while working remotely.
Travel to customer locations as required.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Previous experience within gas detection, industrial safety or process industries - essential.
Proven field service experience, including working independently at customer sites.
Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
Experience maintaining and repairing gas detection systems or comparable electronic, electrical or electro-mechanical equipment.
A relevant technical qualification such as an apprenticeship, vocational qualification, HNC/HND or degree in engineering, electronics, instrumentation or a related discipline.
The ability to understand wiring diagrams, technical specifications and engineering documentation.
Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
Experience providing technical support and guiding customers through fault resolution.
The ability to work independently and manage your own schedule effectively.
Good IT skills and confidence using digital reporting and communication tools.
A valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.
A UK passport.
