Job description

The Opportunity: Service Controller

Contract: Permanent

Location: Cannock

United Plant Services is an engineering and asset management business, renowned for providing market leading engineering support and fleet management for Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) within the quarry and waste industry. We are part of The Briggs Equipment Group, a leading provider of asset management and maintenance solutions across the UK and Ireland. The Impact you will have:

  • Follow company health and safety guidelines at all times, both internally and externally, ensuring colleague and customer safety.
  • Deliver industry-leading business performance to exceed regional targets. Obtain relevant authorities prior to starting chargeable work.
  • Participate in Saturday morning telephone cover (rota).
  • Maintain effective communication, keeping all relevant parties informed and managing expectations.
  • Prioritize and schedule work activities to meet customer expectations in line with contractual requirements and KPIs. Plan resources within the team, including managing priority Vehicle Off Road, Non-Vehicle Off Road, Urgent Estimates, and liaising with third-party service providers for specialist assistance.
  • Control and monitor work in progress, ensuring jobs are completed timely and invoiced in line with department KPIs.
  • Own and complete urgent estimates (Asset VOR) within 12 working hours, including follow-up for acceptance.
  • Manage supplier performance according to SLA agreements and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Promote team working ethic and support colleagues as needed.
  • Answer calls in line with KPI standards.
  • Effectively resolve issues through problem-solving and ownership.
  • Support compliance activities when required.
  • Assist the service management team with tasks such as opening and closing the building, and arranging weekend rotas.
  • Monitor and manage out-of-hours activity as required by Tarmac.
  • Support training of new team members.
  • Identify and pursue business opportunities to generate additional revenue.
  • Perform any reasonable tasks assigned by a Regional Line Manager.
