Job summary

Gateway Group Services Ltd. in Southend-on-Sea is seeking a Service Charge Accountant to join our busy finance team. You will prepare service charge budgets, input figures into our database, and produce weekly and monthly reports for KPI targets.

The ideal candidate has property service charge experience, excellent Excel skills, and is working towards or has achieved AAT Level 3. This full-time role offers a supportive environment, training sponsorship, and opportunities for career progression.

Qualifications

• Must have AAT Level 3 or higher.
• Preferably property service charge experience.
• Strong commercial understanding.
• Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data handling.

Responsibilities

• Prepare service charge budgets and coordinate with Property Management to allocate charges.
• Input budgets onto the database and ensure accurate apportionment.
• Assist Property Managers with account queries and budget prep.
• Prepare weekly and monthly KPI reports for senior stakeholders.

Service Charge Accountant

As we continue to grow, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Charge Accountant to join our busy team.

The Person

You will be a people person aligned to the Gateway brand. You will be a great communicator with a track record of delivering the best client and customer experience possible. Promoting the brand and creating new opportunities will come as second nature to you.

The Job

Your role will include:

• Preparing Service Charge budgets and actively working alongside the Property Management Department to ensure that these are realistic, effective, and distributed in a timely manner to achieve KPI targets.
• Inputting budgets onto the database ensuring charges are applied correctly and apportionment's agree.
• Assisting Property Managers with account queries and budget preparation.
• Preparing the weekly budget report for distribution to DOO and GFC
• Preparing the monthly periodics report for the Corporate Department.
• Budget and variance reporting
• Raising periodic Service Charge demands and recharges as required.
• Assisting with ad-hoc projects as required.
• Preparing Service Charge accounts for the managed property portfolio to include:
• Analysis of income and expenditure
• Accruals and prepayments where necessary
• Review and analysis of the Service Charge budget to actual expenditure and prior year performance.
• Liaising with the Property Managers and external accountants to ensure accounts are complete, queries resolved and issued in a timely manner to achieve Corporate KPI targets.

The ideal candidate:

• Will preferably have Property Service Charge experience
• Has sound commercial understanding
• Has exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Has proven organisational skills

What You Need

• Applicants must be either be working towards or have reached AAT Level 3

Job location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: Salary dependant on experience
Annual leave: 23 days plus bank holidays
