Role: Serious Injury Lawyer
Location: Wakefield + Hybrid
Salary Range: £35,000 - £55,000

Are you an experienced litigator ready to make a meaningful impact? We're seeking a Serious Injury Lawyer to manage a portfolio of high-value claimant injury claims (primarily RTA), typically ranging from £125k to £250k. In this role, you'll not only handle complex technical matters but also mentor and support the Serious Injury team, helping shape the department's strategic direction and reputation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Care: Provide exceptional support to clients who have experienced significant, life‑altering events.
  • Team Leadership: Assist your Team Leader with goal‑setting, performance management, and staff development.
  • Case Oversight: Review complex files, offer guidance, and conduct technical evaluations.
  • Client Communication: Ensure regular contact, including in‑person meetings, to maintain trust and transparency.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Liaise with specialists such as medical professionals, case managers, architects, and forensic accountants.
  • Legal Documentation: Draft statements, pleadings, and loss schedules with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Settlement Negotiation: Aim for early interim payments and maximise compensation for each client.
  • System Efficiency: Utilize a task‑based case management system to provide timely updates and manage expectations.
  • Professional Development & Networking: Represent the department through engagement with APIL, Headway, and SIA, as well as writing articles and providing testimonials.
  • Mentorship: Offer constructive feedback and support to junior colleagues.
  • Performance & Targets: Maintain high‑quality outputs while meeting business objectives.
KPIs & Objectives

Your performance goals will be set during one‑on‑one meetings. Regular reviews with your line manager will help measure your progress, recognise successes, and identify areas for further growth.

What We're Looking For
Essential
  • Qualified Solicitor or Fellow of CILEx with 4+ years PQE (or equivalent) at Grade B rates.
  • Substantial experience in serious injury claims, with expert knowledge of litigation and court procedures.
  • Proven ability to deliver excellent client care.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Skilled in meeting performance targets without compromising on quality.
  • Proficiency in case management systems, Excel, and Word.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and keen attention to detail.
Desirable
  • Team‑oriented mindset with prior experience mentoring in multi‑track personal injury cases.
  • Comfortable building your professional profile through involvement with organisations such as Headway, SIA, or APIL.
  • Positive and adaptable attitude, ready to overcome challenges and exceed targets.
