Job summary

Alban Recruitment Solutions is seeking a senior WordPress developer to lead the technical delivery of bespoke WordPress websites and applications in our London-based development team. You will design, develop and maintain solutions, mentor junior developers, collaborate with clients and designers, and drive the adoption of AI-assisted development across the business.

This hands-on role requires ownership of projects, strong coding skills, and the ability to translate business needs into scalable

• Expert knowledge of WordPress development.
• Advanced PHP proficiency.
• Strong MySQL understanding.
• Experience with WordPress REST API.
• Hands-on with Custom Post Types.
• ACF familiarity for custom fields.
• Custom plugin development experience.
• WooCommerce knowledge.
• Gutenberg block development experience.
• WordPress security best practices.
• Performance optimisation and Core Web Vitals.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of bespoke WordPress websites and applications.
• Develop custom WordPress themes, plugins and Gutenberg blocks.
• Produce clean, maintainable and well-documented code.
• Build responsive, accessible and high-performance websites.
• Work collaboratively with designers, project managers and clients.
• Mentor and support junior developers.
• Lead technical discussions and code reviews.
• Attend client meetings and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows through automation and AI.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical best practice.
• Keep up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
