Job summary

Proactive Global invites a skilled Welder for a Luton-based role on rotating shifts (6.00am-2.30pm / 2.30pm-11.00pm, Mon-Fri). You will weld components and sub-assemblies to drawings and WPSs, ensuring quality, safety and compliance while supporting production targets.

The ideal candidate has a time-served welding apprenticeship and at least five years of coded welding experience, including TIG, MMA, and MAG processes, with carbon and stainless steels, and reading complex drawings.

Qualifications

• Time-served welding apprenticeship.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience as a skilled welder.
• Weld to coded standards with valid qualifications.
• Open-root welding: TIG, MMA, MAG.
• Experience with carbon steel and stainless steel.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and welding procedures.
• Experience in UT/RT/NDT or other NDT methods.
• Experience in pressure vessels or piping systems.
• Hands-on brazing experience.
• Strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Carry out welding of components, part parts and sub-assemblies per drawings and procedures.
• Obtain authorisation before coded welding activities.
• Set up welding equipment and prepare weld surfaces.
• Ensure welding equipment is inspected, maintained and calibrated.
• Monitor welding consumables and support stock control.
• Maintain rod stores and record temperature/humidity per procedures.
• Record work in ERP systems (e.g., Epicor).
• Meet production routing times and delivery schedules.
• Maintain safety, quality, and 5S housekeeping.
• Follow Health & Safety and Environmental procedures.
• Contribute to Lean and continuous improvement.
