Border Vets Livestock Services in Longtown is seeking a Senior Farm or Mixed Veterinary Surgeon for a part-time 25.5-hour week. You’ll provide clinical leadership, support colleagues and help shape the future of our farm service.
The role offers on-call commitments with flexible hours, and opportunity to work with a forward-thinking team dedicated to high-quality care while maintaining work-life balance. Based at Border Vets, you’ll influence service development and patient outcomes.
Border Vets is looking for an experienced Senior Farm or Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join our team in Longtown. This is an exciting opportunity for an established farm vet, or a mixed vet with a strong interest in farm work, who is ready to take the next step in their career while retaining a good work-life balance.
You’ll be confident working independently and ready to take on a senior role within the team. Alongside your clinical work, you’ll have genuine scope to help shape the future of our farm service, providing clinical leadership, supporting colleagues and helping to bring further structure and development to the service.
This is a 25.5-hour, 3-day-per-week role, with an on-call commitment of one weeknight and one in four weekends for farm or mixed work. The role offers a varied farm or mixed caseload, depending on your experience and interests, alongside the opportunity to contribute at a more senior level. We are also happy to be flexible with hours and rota patterns for the right candidate.
You’ll play an important part in the ongoing development of the farm service, working closely with the team to provide clinical support, leadership and structure. We’re looking for someone who is confident making decisions independently and who enjoys sharing their knowledge and experience with colleagues.
You’ll be joining a supportive, forward-thinking team with a strong focus on delivering high-quality clinical care while maintaining a positive working environment. This is an opportunity to work alongside colleagues who value collaboration and clinical support, while giving you the autonomy to bring your own experience and ideas to the role.
As a senior member of the farm team, you’ll have the opportunity to influence how the service develops and help create greater structure and consistency across the farm offering. Whether you come from a predominantly farm background or are a mixed vet looking to focus more heavily on farm work, there is plenty of scope to make the position your own.
Based at Border Vets in Longtown, this role offers the opportunity to work within a well-established veterinary team while enjoying the benefits of a genuinely part‑time working pattern.
We understand that a senior veterinary role doesn’t have to mean giving up your work‑life balance. With three working days per week and a clearly defined on‑call commitment, this could be an ideal opportunity for an experienced vet looking for greater responsibility and influence without stepping into a full‑time role.
If you’re an experienced farm or mixed vet who is ready for a senior‑level opportunity with genuine scope to influence and develop the service, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re committed to supporting your ongoing development and wellbeing. When you join us, you’ll benefit from:
Up to £42,400 DOE (£75,922 FTE)
