Job summary

Oxford Flow in Witney (Tungsten Park Site) seeks a Senior Assembly Technician to assemble, test and inspect precision flow-control and valve systems. You will interpret drawings and specifications, ensure correct assembly, and maintain traceability and quality records.

You will work with engineering, production and quality teams to resolve issues, carrying out mechanical and basic electronic assembly as required while adhering to safety and Lean principles.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical assembly skills and ability to assemble complex components to a high standard.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings, technical specifications and dimensional tolerances.
  • Previous experience with industrial valves, flow-control equipment or pressure-containing products is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, build and test flow-control valves, pressure regulators, hydraulic components and mechanical sub-assemblies across a range of sizes and configurations.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, specifications and bills of materials to ensure components are correctly fitted and assembled.
  • Carry out precision mechanical assembly including fastening, torquing, sealing, bonding, component alignment and installation of valve components.
  • Assemble hydraulic and pressure-containing components, ensuring correct installation, sealing and integrity of completed assemblies.
  • Perform functional checks, pressure testing and basic hydrostatic testing where required, identifying leaks, defects and assembly issues.
  • Inspect components and completed valve assemblies against specified dimensions, tolerances, quality requirements and customer specifications.
  • Identify and report non-conformances and support corrective actions to maintain high standards of product quality.
  • Use a range of hand tools, torque tools, measuring equipment and workshop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Operate hoists, cranes, lifting equipment, airlines and other production equipment when handling large or heavy valve assemblies.
  • Carry out mechanical and basic electronic assembly activities, including wiring, component installation and soldering where required.
  • Fault-find and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and assembly-related issues before final inspection and release.
  • Maintain accurate production, inspection and traceability records, including component usage, completed assemblies and quality checks.
  • Work efficiently to daily production targets, maintaining a strong balance between productivity, accuracy and quality.
  • Maintain clean, organised and safe work areas in accordance with 5S and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Carry out routine cleaning, inspection and basic maintenance of tools, equipment and assembly areas.
  • Follow all Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures, reporting hazards, equipment faults and non-conformances promptly.
  • Support continuous improvement activities to improve assembly processes, reduce waste, increase efficiency and maintain operational excellence.
  • Prepare completed valve assemblies and equipment for secure packaging, storage and shipment while maintaining product traceability.
  • Work closely with engineering, production and quality teams to resolve technical issues and ensure valve assemblies meet internal and customer requirements.
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail when working with precision valves, actuators, hydraulic equipment and pressure-control systems.
