This role asks for a designer who also builds, taking hard product problems from the first customer conversation through to a shipped interface. A strong candidate has designed for expert users, has real product judgement, and can explain why one choice beats another in terms others can reuse. Comfort with unclear problems and with testing rough versions on real people matters more than polished mock-ups.

How it fits the AI era

AI agents here do real legal and property work for people, so much of the design job is deciding what gets handed over, how results are checked and how trust is earned. AI coding tools let designers ship their own interface changes, which makes taste and sound judgement the scarce skills. What stays human is understanding the experts, choosing what is worth building and keeping the product feeling coherent.

How it builds AI experience

Someone in this role would work closely with AI agents that analyse leases, documents and property records, and learn how to show sources, confidence and ways for users to steer. They would also gain hands-on practice building with AI coding tools in a live codebase and writing rules that coding agents follow. To prepare, build small projects with AI tools and study how legal or other high-stakes AI products present their reasoning.
