Job description
Senior Trust Grade Registrar Obstetrics and Gynaecology

The closing date is 20 November 2025.

The Maternity and Gynaecology department at NUH is looking to appoint a registrar at ST3-7 level in order to ensure robust middle grade cover on both our campuses 24/7. We are offering 12 month fixed term contracts with the potential for this to be extended by mutual agreement.

NUH support applicants who are looking to start or are part way through their CESR journey.

Main duties of the job

The Maternity and Gynaecology department includes all hospital and community based obstetrics, gynaecology and midwifery services. 44 consultants contribute to our obstetrics and gynaecology service, of which 18 are gynaecologists, 18 are obstetric consultants and 8 combined obstetrician and gynaecologists.

Gynaecology is provided across three sites, at City Hospital, Queen's Medical Centre and the Nottingham Treatment Centre based at the QMC Campus. Our gynaecology service includes an accredited Urogynaecology unit, reproductive medicine, benign and emergency gynaecology, and Gynae-oncology. The service is in the process of an exciting transformation project, with several aspects of the service relocating from the City to QMC campus and Nottingham treatment centre. As part of the development of Primary Integrated Care Services gynaecology clinics are also held in primary care settings in the community supported NUH gynaecologists.

About us

The QMC Campus will continue to provide emergency gynaecology and an early pregnancy care and all of the fertility services. Out‑patient benign gynaecology and short stay surgery are provided in the main at the NUH Treatment Centre, based on QMC Campus. In addition some outreach gynaecology is provided in the community and at Ilkeston and Heanor hospitals. The gynaecology‑oncology service, recently recognised as a Certified Centre in Advanced Ovarian Cancer Surgery by ESGO (European Society of Gynaecological Oncology), is currently base at city Hospital campus.

Both sites have a dedicated hysteroscopy and colposcopy service.

Both hospital sites have a labour suite which is associated with a level 3 Neonatal Unit, dedicated obstetric anaesthetic service, and inpatient and outpatient obstetric services.

Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) was established in 2006 and we are one of the biggest and busiest NHS Trusts in the country with a budget of over £1billion and over 17,000 staff. We provide services to over 2.5 million residents of Nottinghamshire.
