Job summary

Newcastle University is seeking a Senior Scientific Officer/Trials Analyst to lead analytical assay development and validation within the Newcastle Cancer Centre Pharmacology Group. The role involves coordinating multiple projects, advising on design, validation, and budgeting, and ensuring compliance with GCLP standards across national clinical trials.

The post is a full-time fixed-term appointment, reporting to the Institute Technical Manager team and Professor Veal, with responsibilities

Qualifications

• Expertise in clinical pharmacology assay development and validation
• Experience with analytical assay development and project management
• Familiarity with GCLP practices and regulatory standards
• Ability to lead multiple projects and coordinate with diverse stakeholders
• Experience in costing and collaboration with external partners

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate analytical assays (LC/MS, HPLC) for cancer drug quantification
• Lead projects and manage timelines to meet trial deadlines
• Provide expert advice on experimental design, validation, and feasibility
• Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments and coordinate repairs
• Oversee training of staff and supervision of students
• Prepare publications and contribute to grant proposals and costings
• Manage resources and budgets across multiple research projects
