Senior Transport Manager

Are you ready to take your transport management career to the next level? FM Conway is recruiting for a Senior Transport Manager to lead our dynamic and fast‑paced transport operations! This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of a thriving business, managing a large, diverse fleet while driving innovation and excellence in compliance and operations. You’ll be a vital part of our leadership team, ensuring smooth and efficient transport operations across the business.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Director of Operations to ensure the safe and efficient running of the transport operation
• Manage a large team, including compliance managers, transport managers and planners
• Liaise with governing bodies (Logistics UK, CLOCS, LLCS) to represent FM Conway in governance proposals and industry developments
• Ensure compliance with the company’s Operator Licence in line with traffic commissioner requirements
• Oversee the specification and ordering of new Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), liaising with internal business divisions and vehicle manufacturers
• Monitor Operator Compliance Risk Score (OCRS) and encounter reports to ensure operational excellence
• Be accountable for the division’s financial performance, including setting strategic budgets and ensuring they are consistently met to drive profitability

Qualifications

You will have extensive experience in managing a large transport fleet and team and a strong background in the transport industry, with in‑depth market knowledge. You will hold a valid and up‑to‑date Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) for Transport Managers and a full UK driving licence. You will have the ability to lead from the front, make strategic decisions, and work collaboratively with key stakeholders.
