Job summary

Bedford Borough Council is recruiting an experienced Transformation & Improvement Lead – Children’s Services on a long-term interim contract. This senior, Head of Service-level role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, shaping the transformation agenda while working closely with the Director of Children’s Services and senior managers.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading transformation and improvement programmes within Local Authority Children’s Services.
• Experience operating at Head of Service or equivalent senior level.
• Strong understanding of frontline Children’s Services and challenges facing Local Authorities.
• Proven ability translating strategy into deliverable change programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of complex Children’s Services transformation and improvement programmes.
• Provide senior leadership across transformation, programme and change activity.
• Turn strategic priorities into deliverable programmes of change with Heads of Service.
• Lead service improvement across Children’s Social Care, Early Help, SEND, Education and related services.
• Develop governance, benefits-realisation and performance measures.
