Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd in Farnham is seeking an experienced Senior Town Planner to lead a varied portfolio across residential, commercial, education, sport and leisure sectors. The role offers hybrid working, a UK-wide planning policy environment, and the opportunity to manage projects from inception to determination.

You should hold a degree in Town Planning (MRTPI or working toward chartership) and have strong stakeholder engagement, client management, and excellent written and verbal

Qualifications

• A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
• MRTPI accreditation, or be working towards chartership.
• Previous experience within a planning consultancy or local authority environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK planning policy and development management.
• Experience managing planning applications and projects from inception through to determination.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The confidence to engage with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders.
• A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Managing a varied portfolio of planning projects across residential, commercial, education, sport and leisure sectors.
• Preparing and submitting planning applications, appeals and supporting planning statements.
• Undertaking site appraisals, planning research and policy assessments.
• Developing and advising on planning strategies to maximise development potential.
• Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact throughout the planning process.
• Liaising and negotiating with local planning authorities, statutory consultees and other stakeholders.
• Coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams and ensuring projects are delivered effectively.
• Identifying opportunities to support business development and strengthen existing client relationships.
• Providing guidance and support to more junior members of the team.
