Job summary

A leading global engineering firm in Belfast is seeking experienced Town Planners to join their team. You will provide technical direction on infrastructure projects and strengthen client partnerships while driving strategic growth in Town Planning across Ireland. The ideal candidate should have a recognised planning qualification and knowledge of Irish planning legislation. Qualifications

  • A recognised planning qualification (IPI or RTPI).
  • Strong knowledge of Irish planning legislation and its applications.
  • Ability to apply relevant policies for effective consenting strategies.
  • Experience in bidding/tendering and strong commercial awareness.
  • Experience with Environmental Impact Assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Technical direction of projects within the team.
  • Strengthen client partnerships while driving strategic growth.
  • Analyze legislation and planning policies for client proposals.
  • Manage consent applications including planning applications.
  • Support development of stakeholder relationships for client solutions.
  • Oversee the development of the team and mentor members.

Skills

Your impact

As part of a global team of over 2,000 professionals, our Town Planning Team delivers an extensive portfolio of Planning and Consents solutions across a diverse range of high‑profile infrastructure projects for critical industries including Rail, Water, Energy, Transport and Airports.

Due to the continued growth, opportunities have been created for experienced Town Planners to join our team. In these roles you will play a key role in the development and delivery of planning advice and solutions across the company’s full portfolio.

Your remit will include
  • Technical direction of projects within the team
  • Strengthen client partnerships while driving strategic growth in Town Planning across Ireland
  • Analysis of legislation, national and local planning policies to guide client proposals and facilitate successful consenting
  • Coordination of consent applications (including planning applications and Strategic Infrastructure Development)
  • Management of reports, development plan submissions, planning appraisals, Environmental Impact Assessment reports and appeals
  • Support the development of partnership‑based stakeholder relationships to ensure the delivery of client‑focused solutions
  • Oversee the development of the wider team, ensuring effective mentoring to support career progression and team success
Here’s what you’ll need
  • A recognised planning qualification (IPI or RTPI)
  • Strong knowledge of Irish planning legislation and its application to infrastructure projects
  • Ability to apply relevant policy and legislation to define effective consenting strategies
  • Experience of bidding/tendering for internal and external opportunities and strong commercial awareness
  • Experience of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and how it applies to major development projects
