Penguin Recruitment Ltd in Altrincham is seeking a Senior Town Planner to join a forward-thinking planning consultancy. The role focuses on strategic planning advice, development opportunities, and managing planning applications across the North West and beyond.

Hybrid working is offered, with a competitive salary and strong career development opportunities. The successful candidate will have a Town Planning degree (MRTPI preferred), substantial consultancy experience, and a solid understanding

Qualifications

• A degree in Town Planning or a closely related discipline.
• MRTPI status, or working towards chartership.
• Significant experience within a planning consultancy, developer or related environment.
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and current planning policy.
• Experience managing planning applications and projects from inception through to determination.
• Experience within the residential development sector would be highly advantageous.
• Strong report-writing and communication skills.
• Ability to interpret planning policy and provide clear, commercially focused advice.
• Excellent project management and organisational skills.
• Confidence dealing with clients, planning officers and multidisciplinary consultant teams.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach to planning challenges.
• The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Providing strategic planning advice to clients on development opportunities and planning risk.
• Preparing and reviewing planning appraisals, planning statements and supporting documentation.
• Developing and implementing planning strategies for residential and mixed-use developments.
• Managing planning applications from inception through to determination.
• Leading pre-application discussions and engaging proactively with Local Planning Authorities.
• Coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams and ensuring planning submissions are delivered effectively.
