Job summary

Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in Reading and Bracknell is seeking a Senior Therapeutic Radiographer (Band 6) to lead clinical areas and support service development within an innovative radiotherapy team.

The post offers preceptorship, leadership development, and opportunities to work with advanced techniques such as SABR, VMAT, DIBH, and SGRT, with a focus on patient-centred care and continuous professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Therapeutic Radiography, or Diploma of College of Radiographers.
  • State Registration.
  • Defined area of specialist practice/experience with caseload management.
  • Evidence of further study.
  • Understanding of wider cancer agenda e.g. TSSG's for Cancer Network.
  • Experience of working to a high standard with a wide variety of Radiotherapy techniques & equipment.
  • Knowledge / Experience of modern Radiotherapy.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality radiotherapy treatments using a range of modern technologies and advanced treatment techniques.
  • Support Band 7 Radiographers and senior leaders in the delivery and development of radiotherapy services across Reading and Bracknell.
  • Act as an Operator under IR(ME)R regulations, ensuring safe and effective treatment delivery.
  • Lead clinical areas and support junior staff in the absence of senior colleagues.
  • Contribute to maintaining the highest professional, technical, and governance standards.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and patient-centred care.
  • Participate in service development, quality improvement, and departmental projects.
  • Support the education, supervision, and assessment of students, apprentices, preceptorship radiographers, and other learners.
  • Maintain and develop professional competencies through continuing professional development.
  • Participate in departmental shift systems and on‑call arrangements as required.

Education

Degree in Therapeutic Radiography, or Diploma of College of Radiographers
State Registration
