Job summary

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is seeking a Senior Therapeutic Radiographer to lead radiotherapy delivery and planning within a large NHS department. You will supervise treatments, coordinate with clinicians, and support the on-site team across variable shifts and on-call duties.

The post requires HCPC registration, a Diploma/BDegree in Oncology Radiotherapy, and significant postgrad experience at Senior Radiographer level.

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree in Radiography therapy as listed.
• Registered with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Significant clinical experience at Senior Radiographer level.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and deliver radiotherapy treatments using external beam radiation and/or sealed sources.
• Plan patients' treatments with clinicians and team members.
• Be actively involved in pre/post planning, course scheduling, and dose calculations.
• Program treatment plans using computer systems.
• Provide verbal and written advice to patients and carers.
• Assess holistic patient needs for radiotherapy planning or treatment.
• Maintain accurate statistics and records per Department policies.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary team on the patient's cancer journey.
• Deputise for the Superintendent Radiographer when needed.
• Liaise with other departments involved in patient management.
• Ensure safe use of expensive and complex radiotherapy equipment.

Job Summary

We are a networked, paperless, Varian department. We have a managed service contract securing a fleet of five Varian linear accelerators, two CT simulators, a Bravos brachytherapy unit and Xstrahl superficial unit. Our dosimetry planning is radiographer-led, predominately using VMAT and IMRT. We also have an established SABR service and an expanding on-treatment review team, including a therapeutic radiographer-led late effects review service. We have SGRT (Align RT) on all our Linacs and on CT (SimRT).

We are a clinical placement site for student radiographers from the University of Suffolk and University of Hertfordshire (UH), and apprentices from Sheffield Hallam University and UH. This gives you the opportunity to help us shape the next generation of therapeutic radiographers.

Main duties of the job

We welcome applications from experienced therapeutic radiographers with excellent communication, leadership and teamworking skills, who are keen to play a role in keeping our service at the forefront of modern radiotherapy. We understand the importance of radiographer advancement and will support you with your personal development.

You will work a four-day week, with a day off during the week, working early and late shifts between 07:00 - 20:00 hrs. You will be expected to work on-call duties at the weekends and occasional Saturdays and bank holidays to ensure gaps in treatment are minimised.
