Bupa Cromwell Hospital is hiring a Senior Theatre Practitioner Scrub for Orthopaedics/Spinal in London. The role involves skilled intraoperative support across six operating suites and close collaboration with surgeons in a busy theatre environment.

You will be responsible for patient positioning, specimen handling, asepsis, and early post-operative care, with ongoing professional development and a supportive team culture.

Qualifikationen

• RN 1st level Registration Adult and/or Children.
• HCPC or NMC registration.
• Diploma or Degree in Health Care Studies.
• ODA 752.

Aufgaben

• Provide skilled clinical and technical assistance as part of the theatre team.
• Assist in positioning and preparation of patients and label/dispatch specimens.
• Maintain asepsis and infection control in line with policy.
• Participate in induction/orientation for new staff.
• Support Personal Development Plans of junior staff.
• Prepare patients for procedures in anaesthetics and surgery.
• Assist in clinical/operative procedures in anaesthetics and surgery.
• Provide immediate post-operative care.
• Provide initial emergency care as required.
• Take charge of the clinical area in absence of advanced practitioner.
• Ensure equipment is checked and faults reported.
• Collaborate to promote a cohesive theatre team and achieve objectives.

Monday to Sunday

Full time 37.5 hours p/w

Our main adult theatre is a busy and dynamic environment, setting the benchmark for clinical excellence. We have 6 operating suites catering for Cardiac, Orthopaedics, ENT and Ophthalmic, Plastics, General/Vascular, Urology and Gynaecology. We work with surgeons who are the best in their specialities carrying out simple to the more complex surgeries.

What you'll do:

To be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team and to participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care.

• Assist in the positioning and preparation of a patient as directed by the surgical team and ensure that any specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched to the laboratory
• Help to control cross infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress, the maintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisation procedures and asepsis.
• Participate in induction and orientation programmes for new staff to ensure a welcoming environment.
• Assist the team leaders in the Personal Development Plans of junior staff
• Prepare patients for clinical/ operative procedures, both in anaesthetics and surgery.
• Provide assistance in clinical/ operative procedures, both anaesthetics and surgery.
• Provide immediate post-operative care.
• Provide initial emergency care as required
• Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner ensuring patient, visitors and staff safety.
• Ensure all equipment is checked prior to use and any faults reported to the Theatre Co-ordinator
• Participate fully as a team member, including working in all areas of the theatre suite, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives.
