Qualifications

Location: The Lister Hospital, Chelsea, London

Hours: Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hours per week)

Shifts: Monday – Saturday, 5 days per week (early or late shift)

Salary: Competitive + Shift Enhancement

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Theatre Practitioner – Scrub with a strong background in orthopaedic surgery. Experience in robotic-assisted procedures is highly advantageous. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment where innovation and excellence are at the heart of everything we do.

We also welcome applications from Band 5 Theatre Scrub Practitioners with 2–4 years of experience in orthopaedics and related surgical specialties who are ready to take the next step in their career.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a key member of our theatre team, you will:

  • Deliver expert scrub support during complex orthopaedic procedures, ensuring patient safety and surgical precision.
  • Prepare instruments and equipment tailored to each procedure, maintaining up-to-date surgeon preference cards.
  • Champion best practices and evidence-based care within the theatre environment.
  • Conduct thorough equipment checks and promptly report any issues to the Theatre Coordinator.
  • Mentor and support junior staff, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration.
  • Take ownership of theatre setup and list organisation, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) qualification.
  • Valid NMC Pin or HCPC Registration.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Scrub Theatre Practitioner, ideally with a focus on orthopaedics.
  • Experience with robotic-assisted surgery is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence and motivation to support and lead within the theatre team.
