An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Anaesthetic Practitioner at Sefton Suite Private Patient Unit based within the grounds of Aintree University Hospital Trust. The role is for a HCPC/NMC registered ODP/RN with an anaesthetic qualification, to join the theatre team.

Overview of the Theatres

The unit has one operating theatre covering a wide range of major specialities, including General, Urology, Breast, Endocrine, Upper G I, Colorectal, Orthopaedics, Head & Neck & Cosmetics. We are excited to welcome an experienced anaesthetic practitioner to our team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert, skilled care to highly dependent patients in a specialised area.
  • Perform anaesthetic, scrub and recovery duties as required to meet service delivery requirements.
  • Work autonomously within the multidisciplinary team and act as a role model, demonstrating effective organisational, clinical and leadership skills.
  • Ensure effective communication at all levels and disciplines, including interdisciplinary, confidential, and sensitive information.
  • Compile and maintain accurate records in accordance with HCPC/NMC standards and Caldicott reporting.
  • Maintain professional standards and adhere to Trust and departmental dress code policy.
  • Support patients, families and staff effectively communicate sensitive, confidential information using a variety of communication skills such as empathy, negotiation and reassurance.
  • Be flexible, adaptable and willing to maintain our pace and drive, having strong communication skills that enable you to be a real team player.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • HCPC/NMC registered ODP/RN with anaesthetic qualification.
  • Maintain awareness of and comply with the HCPC/NMC code of professional conduct and standards of proficiency.
  • Demonstrate evidence of ongoing specialist professional development via a personal professional portfolio and the NHS knowledge and skills framework.
  • Good IT skills and record keeping.

  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain professional standards and adhere to the Trust and departmental dress code policy.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and accurate record keeping in accordance with HCPC/NMC standards for record keeping and Caldicott reporting.
  • Show competence to deliver expert, skilled care to highly dependent patients in a specialised area.
Working Hours and On‑Call

Shift patterns may include evenings and weekends. On‑call rotation may be required depending on service needs. The role involves working within the busy theatre team and may include rotation within the disciplines, supported by the theatre team.
