Job Summary

A vacancy at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. An exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 6 Anaesthetic Practitioner at Sefton Suite Private Patient Unit based within the grounds of Aintree University Hospital Trust. The unit covers a wide range of major specialities including General, Urology, Breast, Endocrine, Upper G I, Colorectal, Orthopaedics, Head & Neck & Cosmetics. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our busy operating theatre team, which currently operates one operating theatre covering these specialties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain awareness of and comply with the HCPC/NMC code of professional conduct and standards of proficiency, Trust policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Demonstrate evidence of ongoing specialist professional development via a personal professional portfolio and the NHS knowledge and skills framework.
  • Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain professional standards and adhere to the Trust and departmental dress‑code policy.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and provide expert, skilled care to highly dependent patients in a specialised area.
  • Ensure effective communication at all levels and disciplines, including confidentiality and multi‑layered information within the theatre.
  • Compile and maintain all records and documentation accurately in accordance with HCPC/NMC standards for record‑keeping and the Caldicott report.
  • Support patients, families and staff in effectively communicating sensitive, confidential information using empathy, negotiation and reassurance.
  • Be a member of the multidisciplinary team, providing support and knowledge to patients within the specialty, acting as a role model and demonstrating effective organisational, clinical and leadership skills.
  • Undertake anaesthetic, scrub and recovery duties as required to meet service delivery requirements.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate record‑keeping.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of good IT skills and record‑keeping.
  • Be flexible, adaptable and willing to maintain pace, demonstrating strong communication skills and team‑player attitude to provide the finest possible care.
Working Hours & Duty

Shift patterns may include evenings and weekends. You may also be required to participate in an on‑call rota, dependent on service needs.

  • HCPC/NMC registered ODP/RN with anaesthetic qualification.
Additional Information

Sefton Suite Private Patient Unit is based within the grounds of Aintree Hospital and is part of the University Hospital of Liverpool Group (UHLG). The group comprises Aintree University Hospital, Royal Liverpool University Hospital and Broadgreen Hospital, with a dedicated Outpatient and Diagnostic Centre in Crosby.
