Job summary

Circle Health Group’s Lincoln Private Hospital seeks a Senior Theatre Practitioner to join the Theatre Department. The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with a flexible shift pattern. Salary up to £43,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

The post requires active perioperative registration (NMC/HCPC) and strong orthopaedic scrub expertise. You will mentor staff, coordinate lists and ensure high standards of safety and patient care.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
  • Significant perioperative experience with orthopaedic surgery.
  • Proven ability to scrub for a wide range of orthopaedic procedures, including complex cases.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the senior scrub for orthopaedic procedures such as joint replacements, arthroscopies, trauma, and spine surgeries.
  • Lead theatre preparation, coordinate surgical lists, ensure equipment, staff and resources are in place.
  • Promote WHO Surgical Safety Checklists and infection prevention while upholding governance standards.
  • Mentor junior staff, students and team members to develop scrub skills and patient care.
  • Collaborate with consultants, anaesthetists, recovery and ward teams to ensure continuity of care.

Salary: Up to £43,000.00 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

We have an opportunity for an Senior Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department.

This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:
  • Act as the senior scrub for a range of orthopaedic procedures, including joint replacements, arthroscopies, trauma, and spinal surgeries.
  • Take a senior role in preparing theatres, coordinating surgical lists, and ensuring all equipment, staff, and resources are in place.
  • Champion the use of WHO Surgical Safety Checklists, infection prevention practices, and adherence to clinical governance requirements.
  • Mentor newly qualified practitioners, students, and team members, supporting skill development in orthopaedic scrub techniques and patient care.
  • Liaise closely with consultants, anaesthetists, recovery staff, and ward teams to ensure continuity of care and an excellent patient experience.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
  • Significant experience in the perioperative setting with specialist knowledge in orthopaedic surgery.
  • Proven ability to scrub for a wide range of orthopaedic procedures, including complex cases.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong understanding of clinical governance, infection control, and safety practices in theatre.
