Job summary

Kier is seeking a Senior Temporary Works Engineer to join the Kier Design team across multiple UK locations. You will lead the planning, delivery and checking of temporary works, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on high-profile projects drawn from Kier’s £11bn+ project pipeline.

You will mentor colleagues, shape technical standards and deliver safe, buildable solutions while supporting clients and contributing to project success.

Qualifications

• Incorporated member of a relevant professional body (e.g. IEng/MICE) with substantial experience.
• Experience in temporary works design and checking across all materials, above and below ground.
• Ability to develop design solutions and assess third-party designs.

Responsibilities

• Lead temporary works design and checking, integrated with permanent works.
• Provide tender support with outline designs, feasibility studies and value engineering.
• Manage technical aspects of projects, ensuring CDM compliance and quality management.
• Build relationships with clients and design teams, represent Kier at meetings.
• Mentor staff and promote knowledge transfer within Kier Design.

We're looking for a Senior Temporary Works Engineer to join our Kier Design team based in various locations. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor.Joinus as a Senior Temporary Works Engineer and become part of one of the UK's leaders in temporary works design and management and construction-related technical services. As part of our 100-strong team, you'll get to work on hundreds of projects across one of the most diverse and high-profile portfolios in the country, with access to Kier's £11bn+ project pipeline – supporting complex construction and major infrastructure schemes from concept through to delivery.

Location: Birmingham / Bristol / Cambridge / Cardiff / Glasgow / Leeds / Liverpool / London / Manchester / Newcastle / Norwich / Plymouth – agile working, with up to 1-2 days per week from home if desired
Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Are you...

• An incorporated member of a relevant professional institution (e.g. IEng MICE) with significant relevant experience, or have demonstrable relevant experience in the field
• Experienced in temporary works design and checking, above and below ground in all materials
• Able to lead the development of design solutions and provide technical assessment of third party designs
• Capable of managing project workloads and ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies
• Committed to continuous professional development and maintaining membership of a professional body

Your day to day will include:

• Leading temporary works design and checking, integrated with permanent works design as applicable
• Providing tender and bid winning support including outline design schemes, feasibility studies and value engineering solutions
• Managing technical aspects of projects, ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations and Kier's Quality Management System
• Developing positive relationships with clients and design teams, representing Kier at project meetings
• Mentoring and developing staff within Kier Design, promoting the engineering profession and maintaining knowledge transfer
